A typical Application Diagnostic engagement takes from one to four weeks. During this time Modivate will analyze your production systems, testing environment, development environment, version control environment, database servers and any other integrated systems and workstations. The product of this analysis will be a detailed document providing the results of this analysis and a road map to help your organization determine the best path to take to get your applications where you need to be as an organization.

Included in this roadmap document:

• Overview - A detailed overview of the systems and environment analyzed as well as a detailed description of your organization's final goals for the applications.

• Current Environment Configuration Analysis - This section includes details on every integration point of your environment. Details would include where the servers are, IP addresses, security configuration details, versions of key software installed, access rights to other integration points, files and versions on each server and other information that is key to the effort. Also included in this section will be fairly simple recommendations to quickly improve and secure the current environment in case no further real refactoring of the applications are done in the future. With this information, a client can at least "band-aid" their systems somewhat before continuing with the road map. Recommendations could include: software version upgrades needed, security patches needed, obvious security holes that should be immediately sealed and memory leak resolutions to take just to name a few.

• Current Application & Database Analysis - Similar to the above section, this section however, focuses on the applications and databases themselves. Details include application and database configuration file key points, domain access information, redirect paths, granular application performance tests to isolate performance issues, database SQL analysis, database table structure analysis, data migration analysis, scalability tests, backup jobs analysis, application & database deployment procedure analysis, version control analysis, code reviews and logging & exception handling analysis.

• Future Application Refactoring Recommendations - This section contains a detailed roadmap for improving the application for the future. Depending on the state of the current systems, this may only involve lesser measures to improve the application all the way up to redesigning most or the entire application if that is what is necessary to meet client goals. .

• Architecture Considerations Checklist - In addition to the refactoring of the application, there is this additional checklist of items that will be presented at the end of the document as a part of the roadmap. The items in the checklist are: infrastructure concerns, performance & scalability recommendations, application availability, security, data growth analysis, archiving strategies and testing strategies.
